The hidden genius inside the new canvas rain baffles: custom made sand bags! Waterproof, heavy enough not to blow off in windstorms, light enough to be lift-able, and they can be stowed inside each wagon station underneath the mattress… Hopefully these will work until we are able to source some high tech nasa-type gasket for the top seem.

Checking on new almost-done roof on number two. Crazy high velocity sandstorm out in Wonder Valley tonight – and dead calm back in Joshua Tree.

Our first power hour of the season – trenching, painting, and moving five gallon buckets of dirt… So satisfying blasting through 13 manpower hours in one hour…(Thank you everyone!)

Drove by this little cabin that was built up on blocks instead of a slab and love how temporary it looks floating above ground. If it wasn't connected to a power-pole you would think someone had just parked it there for a few minutes.

When I moved out here I started two running lists: "things come together" and "things fall apart" – today was one of those days when the ratio wasn't looking so hot. Feeling pretty overwhelmed and thankful for an insanely competent hardworking crew.
